Everyone has a brain, and today I am going to talk about the human brain. For those of you who don't know what a brain is, it is an organ -wait, is brain an organ? Hold on, let me google that, *types "is brain an organ" and search*. The brain bla bla blah organ - oh yes, the brain is an organ. It's situated on top of your head, between your ear, behind your forehead, below your hair. It looks like mee kuning all roll together. Ya, you get the point. The human brain is the most complex organ because of the following reason. Let me break it down for you because I know your brain is lazy.
1. Waking up
So, the hardest part about adulthood is leaving your bed. And it'll be especially hard when your brain tells you to stay in bed. You will be lying on your bed there like
Me: i need to go class
Brain: Sleep a little more. The bed is so comfy. It’s raining. Your attendance is still above 80%, chill, sleep for another 5 more minutes…
While in class, you are supposed to be paying attention to the lecture, jotting down notes, asking questions, but at times your brain just won’t stop torturing you or let you focus. All your brain can think of is how:
- The lecturer has been wearing the same shirt whole week.
- Imagining yourself having gorgeous hair like Ariana.
- How could that girl dress up to an 8am class.
- What to eat after class.
- What’s going on in Snapchat.
- Wonder if Zayn Malik’s new song is out.
- Did my crush come to class?
As finals approach, it gets even more difficult to study, or get the right motivation to open up your notes and actually sit down and study. When you finally decide to study, your brain tells you to listen to your study playlist for 5 minutes, like, you know, to get into the mood. So you go on Youtube and that’s it, 3 hours pass by just like that and you end up from One Direction to how to look like the Kardashians sisters. You look at your notes, still in chapter 1. So your brain then convinces you that the bed looks comfy or you are hungry. Gone! 1 day closer to finals and zero chapters completed. Why Brain Why?
4. Talking to friends
I don’t know about the rest of you guys but I tend to drift off in a conversation in my own thoughts. My friends will be on to a topic and my brain just starts thinking about everything but the conversation. All my brain will think about is how cute that guy that just walk by was. I will drool over him and imagine my wedding with him, the kids I am going to have with him and growing old together. OMG, I’m becoming Taylor Swift. But snap, back to reality, completely unaware about the conversation.
Alright, isn’t it annoying when you are in a middle of a test and suddenly a song you heard pop into your brain. You are there trying to pour out everything that you’ve studied and suddenly Rihanna’s “Work” comes up. Come on brain, I am trying to pass this paper. Focus brain focus.
Most of the time, showers last more than 30 minutes, 3 minutes for the actual shower and the remaining is just deep, serious thinking. I mean like that’s when all the important stuff like When Does the World End are being pondered on. That is the place where the brain comes up with incredible ideas. To be honest, I came up with the idea to write this topic in the shower. But sometimes, the brain plays games as well.
Have you heard recently about snakes in toilet bowl story? Yes, it seems snakes are finding shelter in toilet bowls, so just when I will like to attend to nature’s call, I start imagining snake. I’m so sorry, hope you “pee in peace” after this.
You know the feeling when you’ve got something important the next morning and you just cannot sleep. You roll to the left and to the right, trying to find the perfect position to sleep, yet you just cannot. Why? Because your brain won’t stop thinking. You try to count sheeps but you are still wide awake. Seriously, brains are like teenagers, so hard to deal with them. They just don’t want to sleep. At times, you are trying to sleep and the room is all dark and quiet, your brain starts playing tricks with you, making you think that something is standing behind you. You might try to think about cute things and somehow the ghost from horror movie you watched will start popping into your head and that’s it. Say goodbye to your beauty sleep.
Don’t tell me I’m the only one.
