Wait, wait, i got a joke.
“Your mother la, open the door.”
Mother, ahh, the word itself is beautiful.
She carried us in her womb for 9 months, brought us into this world, made us the centre of her world, and brought us up till today. She has taught us a billion of stuff, but here are a few important things she taught us.
"Don't sit too close to the TV, or you will lose your eyesight". I'm sure all of us have heard this at some point in time in our lives. She had taught us a few survival tips to survive this cray-cray world. She taught us to be nice at all times. She taught us to deal with our sibling and people around us amicably. She comforted us when a family member has passed on and helped us to overcome depression. She taught us that life is about moving on from pain and dusting off that guy that dumped you. She taught us that a messy room is a big no-no because you won’t be able to study or eat, or it's simply unpleasant to the eye and who knows what might be living under that pile of trash, a snake or something?
2. Eat healthy.
Remember when your mum force-feeds your vegetables? And tells you to empty your plate because “people in Africa are starving and don't have anything to eat? But then, occasionally she makes us our favourite biryani or char kuey teow. Then as we grew, she even gave us a few tips to make simple good meals when in desperation kicks in so that our meals wouldn't always be at the mamaks. Well, when I think back about it, before I came to MMU, my mum taught me a few dishes which actually came in handy.
P.S. don't forget to eat your fruits and drink lots of water, hot weather la,ah boy and ah girl!
Exams like UPSR, PMR, SPM remind me of when my mum would lovingly wake me up, haha, just kidding, I mean to push me into the bathroom, pour freezing cold water on my face so that I would wake up and study for my exam. However, she would make me a glass of milo or coffee and constantly check on me so that I don't doze off into Lala land. From ABC to 123 to whatever scripted in the chemistry textbook, mothers have been an important figure in helping us ace our examinations. It is either her motivation or her constant yammering on how near the exams are. She has been there with us, for us.
4. Meaning of true love
She is the one who taught us the true meaning of love. Maybe it was the way she treated our father, the way she treated the rest of our family but admit it, Mother’s are the best example when it comes to showing love.
I remember when I found out I was adopted and that didn't change a thing because from when she chose me as one of her daughters and care for all my needs and giving me a family, she provided me with all the love and care a child needs. She went out of her might to do whatever I required, be it education, medical necessities or something as simple as just being there as a loving mother. Though we may not share the same blood but she taught me, true love. Tell me who else could do that?
Be grateful for having your mother. She loves you a lot. Send her a card, a handmade card. I will kill y'all if you just send her a WhatsApp message. Come on, she deserves something better for all that she has done. Happy Mother’s Day.
