“What would have I seen if I have taken that road which I have not tread?”
All in all, the life that he had lived was not one of darkness and regrets. But it certainly does casts shadows of doubts and queries when the light of reflection shines upon it. From the mundane to the life-changing life, there was certainly an ample selection of choices from which he could pick from.
Perhaps if he had just spoken the words that came from his heart instead of his mind, maybe, just maybe, he had someone to confine these words with those of not blood relation, if he had acted in that right manner, friends of choice rather than friends of circumstances may have been presented to him.
He chuckled as he remembered that if he had followed his gut feeling instead of prudence, he would have been spared much consternation in one particular ordeal. And that perhaps that if he had just made a stand instead of a passive resistance, perhaps the friend he values the most would stay that way instead of becoming a friend of cordiality.
Another would be if he had just made a left turn instead of a right, perhaps… well, perhaps… what would had it been?
The minute hand runs its course as the author shifts through the twists and turns of his route. Coming to the end of the trail, at last, he sighed again as he writes down the answer he knew all along but will continue to ask for again and again as the days goes by.
“Most likely I would be sitting down here musing on what I would have seen on the route that I have chosen now.”
