Aikido Club, Multimedia University (Melaka Campus) had hosted the 16th National Aikido Seminar organized by Malaysia Aikido Association. The 2-days seminar was held on 6th and 7th of June 2015 at Main Hall, Multimedia University (Melaka Campus). The seminar received an overwhelming response from Aikido practitioners from Malaysia as well as Singapore. Tsuruzo Miyamoto Shihan (7th dan) from Japan Hombu Dojo who has practiced the art of harmony for 44 years was invited to be the guest instructor for this seminar.
Tsuruzo Miyamoto Shihan had demonstrated different variations of techniques that are of a higher level. Tsuruzo Miyamoto Shihan had constantly emphasized the importance of zanshin – which refers to a state of awareness in Aikido. Aikido practitioners regardless of their ranking were able to learn new knowledge from the guest instructor and they also had the opportunity to train with fellow Aikidoka from other dojos.
The closing ceremony was held on the second day of the seminar. It was attended by Mr. Nichikawa Fumiteru, Second Secretary of Japan Embassy, Tsuruzo Miyamoto Shihan, Mr. Low Thian Seng, the President of Malaysia Aikido Association, Mr. Jee Kian Siong, the advisor of Aikido Club, Multimedia University (Melaka Campus), Miss Heaw Yu Hoey, the immediate president of Aikido Club, Multimedia University (Melaka Campus) and participants of the seminar.
Tsuruzo Miyamoto Shihan presented certificates to Tony Yap Sensei and Dr. Leong Sensei for passing their 5th dan examination. After the presentation of token of appreciation to Tsuruzo Miyamoto Shihan, Mr. Nichikawa Fumiteru, who travelled all the way from Kuala Lumpur, was then invited to give a welcoming speech to the participants. He expressed his gratitude for being invited to attend the seminar on behalf of the Japan Embassy and he was very glad that there were so many enthusiastic practitioners of the Japan art of harmony.
Low Sensei, the President of Malaysia Aikido Association expressed his appreciation to Tsuruzo Miyamoto Shihan for coming all the way from Japan to Malaysia to support the seminar. He also expressed his utmost gratitude to the participants for supporting the seminar. The ceremony ended with a group photo-taking session.
