The annual Japanese Culture Festival took place on the 9th of August at the Exam Hall.
This year, the Japanese Culture Festival was themed ‘Bunkasai’. Bunkasai, also known as school festival or culture festival, is one of the most famous festivals in Japan. It is an annual event held by most educational institutions, from secondary schools to universities in Japan.
The event commenced with the emcees- Tess and Sukhvin announcing the light art performance, followed by a special guest speech.
Performances include the 24 seasons drum, martial arts like Karate by MMU Karate Club, Aikido by MMU Aikido Club and Judo by MMU Judo Club, several dance performances by Dynamix Studio, a special band performance by HelloScarlet as well as the Soran Bushi performance. A lucky draw was also conducted.
The festival had booths showcasing Japanese culture and conducting mini games. There were also booths selling Japanese food outside the Exam Hall. Other activities include cosplaying (dressing up as fictional characters) and trying on traditional Japanese costumes.
To sum it up, the Japanese Culture Festival this year was remarkable with excellent attendance and interesting activities that have never been done last year. The event concluded around 11 pm.
