Athma 7.0 is a welfare event organized by the Indian Cultural Society of Multimedia University, Malacca Campus. This event was held from the 25th to 27th March 2016 at Multimedia University, Malacca. Project Athma 7.0 is an event organized solely with the aim to improve the welfare of impoverished Indian students in rural areas of Malacca. This project is particularly targeted for primary level Indian students, where around 15 schools were identified around Malacca. 122 students from 15 different schools participated in Project Athma 7.0. These students were accommodated at SJK(T) Kubu for the two nights.
Athma 7.0 was officiated by Datuk A Chandrakumanan of Pertubuhan Pusat Aduan Rakyat Malaysia at 4 p.m. with an inspiring speech. Then, at 5 p.m. the first module of the day, Group Ice Breaking, began with all the participants getting to know their facilitators and friends much better. Then after dinner, the second module of Project Athma 7.0, Time Management began. This module was carried out effectively by the facilitators, where the participants carried out activities to test their understandings on effective time management skills. With that, the first day of Athma Project 7.0 was concluded.
The next morning ,the students were in MMU by 8 a.m. and breakfast was provided. Then, the second day officially began with the presentation of the third module, the Importance of English. The facilitators incorporated interesting language-based games and activities. Right after that, the forth module on Science & Technology began, which covered a wide array of topics to highlight on the recent scientific and technological advancement to broaden the mind of the participants. At 1 p.m., participants had their lunch before they moved to Explore Race session. At about 3 p.m, the participants were geared up for Explore Race with 10 different station games. After a series of fun-filled and tiring games, the students refreshed and had their dinner. At 8 p.m., OST session began . The OST session was conducted by ICS Vice President, Colin Raj Stephen and the facilitators to identify the problems and hardships faced by the students and to assist us in addressing them. With that, the 2nd day of Athma was concluded.
The final day of Athma Project 7.0 began with the arrival of participants from school. After breakfast, the 7th module, Communication Skills began. This module was presented to educate the students on ways to carry out conversations and presentations effectively including the 5C's comprising of Clear, Complete, Correct, Courteous and Concrete. At 12 p.m., Athma’s closing ceremony began. The closing ceremony of Project Athma 7.0 was officiated by Mr.Kishva Ambigapathy, Chairman of Commonwealth Youth Council accompanied by Mr.Dhanesh Basil, member of Youth Parliament Bukit Katil, Advisor of Indian Cultural Society, Madam.Kavitha Balakrishnan, founders and patrons of Project Athma. There was a brief photography session after the closing ceremony followed by certificate presentation and students sharing session.
The facilitators of Athma 7.0 bid farewell to the participants with a completely satisfied heart. This concluded the successful three days run of Project Athma 7.0.
