Christmas is a merry season, from the gift giving to the fall of snow. The Catholic Student Fellowship organized a get together, and opened their doors to anyone interested to participate. The event began at 8.00 Pm and chimed on till 11.30 pm.
It all started with an ice breaker, as the members and guest introduced themselves. Then gradually, through games and activities, the faceless mass of strangers, grew closer as friends. The decorations sported an icy winter’s touch with a warm homemade feel. Snowflakes dangled from above, as if the snow fall had frozen in time to allow us to fully appreciate their articulate shape.
Come dinner time, all were famished. The feast did not disappoint as people started queuing for their meal. Some even had seconds. Smiles filed the room and there wasn’t a frown in sight. The atmosphere shifted as the mellow veil covering the room lifted, giving way to excitement and joy, as the games had begun.
Laughter filled the air, as the events of the night carried on. Songs were sang to breathe life into the Christmas spirit, as everyone came together, hand in hand, to serenade along. The event was coming to an end, but not before the secret Santa gift giving. Everyone was ecstatic, as they moved towards the tree, beneath which lie a cluster of wrapped goodies.
The guests eagerly looked for their names penned on a yellow parchment. The tearing of wrapping paper was delightful and what came next was either a hug or a puzzled look, as to whom their secret Santa might have been. Some came forward, while others left their receivers in the dark.
As the event approached its final hours, the members as well as the guests helped to tidy up the room. That night was special, the club delivered in both effort and spirit.
