The event showcased its Christmas theme with decorations by the entrance. A board decorated with a Christmas tree was placed at the area for guests to sign and leave messages before entering the hall.
The night started off at 7.45 pm with the promotional video for E-Voyage 2015 featuring Tes and Sandeep, which was conveniently followed by the introduction of both of them as the emcees for the night. The emcees then announced the arrival of the VIPs – Mr. Zamzuri Abdul Majid, Campus Director and Senior Director of STAD, Associate Professor Dr. Alan Tan, Dean of FET as well as Ng Xing Kang, Event Director of E-Voyage 2015. Other VIPs include the Deputy Dean of FET and advisor to ENGSOC, A.P. Dr. Lim Way Soong, former Dean of FET, Dr. Peter Brevern, President of ENGSOC, Tan Jiaxin and Deputy President of SRC, Yu Peng Chiang as well as several alumni of ENGSOC.
After the welcoming speeches by the Event Director and the Campus Director, the event was officiated with the opening ceremony by inviting all the VIPs on stage to spell the word “E-Voyage” on the backdrop.
Then came the moment the crowd was waiting for, the buffet-styled dinner. The food prepared was fairly good featuring an array of local and western dishes, a salad bar and a dessert bar. One interesting and unique thing to note about the event was that there were no performances during the dining session. The reason to this was because it was also an interactive session for guests to converse while having dinner, as well as to mingle with the alumni and other students.
After dinner, there were 2 performances which kept the crowd entertained, a duet by E-Voices followed by a hip-hop dance by Anitha and Izzaty.
The event continued with the introduction of all the alumni and the awards ceremony. The awards include the FET Dean List Award and the FET Peer Tutor Award. Next came the lucky draw session for 6 lucky winners among the guests.
During a short interview with the Event Director, Ng Xing Kang, he personally felt that the night was a success as they had met their objectives which were for students to mingle with the alumni, for lecturers to get closer with students as well as for the crowd to have a good time.
The event concluded at 10.30pm followed by a photo-taking session.
