The night started on the auspicious time of 7.01pm. The new main hall was decorated in such beauty that it mesmerised the eyes of the beholder. The committee members all dressed up in traditional attire to further enhance the atmosphere in the beautifully decorated hall.
The event started with the speech for the Sangamam Director, Mr.Arjun Selvarajoo. In his speech, he thanked the committee members for helping him out in the dire process of making this event a reality. He also thanked all who attended the event. Next, the President of ICS, Mr. Selvantheran Segaran gave a short and simple speech by thanking the committee who were mostly the June intake freshies for their amazing commitments. He also stated in conjunction with the 20 years anniversary of Multimedia University, The Indian Cultural Society will be having 20 events this term with 4 already conducted, which includes The Kabaddi Tournament.
The event showcased many talents in the art of dance and music. The GDC dance group performed a various genre of Indian cultural dances such as the Kathakali and Karagatham which originated from India. A Bharatanatyam performance was performed by our very own homegrown students, Buvana, Thanusha and Kabeelashree with their sophisticated gestures and elegant facial expression. It was amazing to see that our students have such great talents and with events like this, they get to showcase their talent on a great platform. Next, the ever famous Bhangra, with it's hyped up music, it made the crowd want to dance along. The ending of the dance was an simply amazing.
During the intermission of the performances, The Indian Cultural Society introduced some of their upcoming events. The one that gained the most attention was Masss 2.0 trailer which will be a tribute event for the Mozart of Madras as they call him, A.R.Rahman, a famous music director in India.
They held a special session to give all of the profits to Project Athma 7.0. Project Athma is one of the Indian Cultural Society's event in where they contribute to the public by means of helping out primary student. A cheque of RM5000 was passed to the Indian Cultural Society by the special guest Dato Muniandy. one of Indian Congress Central working committee member and coordinator in MIC national center.
The highlight of the event was special performance by VIP, Malaysian Music Composer Jay. He praised we have the best Malaysian talents, and all we need to do is to show sincere commitment and we could lead the industry of Tamil music. His acapella performance was one of the crowd's favourite. His team sang beautifully.
Last but not least, it was the performance with the Indian drum Dhol. This performance is a fusion of the classical and modern beat. The Dhol team covered the song Lean On.
All in all, the event was amazing and showed us that the Indian culture still lives on with a burning flame as seen in this amazing event, SANGAMAM.
