A big kudos to the lecturers and committee members of the CDP Maker Fest 2016 for pulling of what seems to be the biggest CDP event of the year. After months of planning, it all came to an end on the 22nd of November as the event was a huge success.
YB Datuk Wira Hj Md Yunos Bin Husin, Melaka State Exco for Education, Higher Education, Science and Technology, Green Technology and Innovation officiated the CDP Maker Fest 2016 that evolved around the theme of “Innovations for Consumption in Circular Economy”. This educational event was very inclusive as it involved basically anyone and everyone who was willing to learn about green technology. School-age participants were invited to join a Do-It-Yourself workshop where they discovered the special watering system of pot planting and reused old t-shirt to make braided rugs. Clean Tech Make-a-thon was a project that was opened to public whereby participants will be taught how to design a Smart Dustbin using the single board micro-controller.
Earlier that afternoon, there was the ‘Green Community’ talk by the Melaka Green Technology Corporation followed by the Social Entrepreneurship (SE) Forum whereby a panel of experts and industry players from Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC), Foodabox, Perbandanan Teknologi Hijau Melaka (PTHM) and Katsana.com discussed on how we can create social innovations for our sustainable consumption. Interesting exhibitions displaying green technology innovations by PTHM, MaGIC, Enactus Universiti Malaya, Alfanani Artworks and the main sponsor for this event, Detech Engineering & Services was also made available for the public eye in the Exam Hall.
