Ever played the virtual reality games Sims before? Ever wondered how it would be like to be one of them? Well, participants of this event that was held on the 14th of January got the chance to live out 6 years of their life in a span of 2 hours. This life-simulation game event recreated a mini-city within MMU Main Hall complete with Police Station, University, Banks, Casino’s etc, and gave participants the right to do literally anything they pleased. Participants could apply for a job, study, to eat or face death, pay taxes, distress after getting work stress, they could get sick, buy house or cars, buy a business etc. Of course if they got caught breaking any of the rules they would be sent to “jail”. It was a GTA fans dream come true.
The event was organized by the MMU Christian Society with the aim of getting participants to think about what kind of life they wanted to live after they graduate by giving them a virtual trial run of their future. The name of the event, A.S.K., stood for ask, seek, knock where participants were invited to ask about any problems that they are facing and if there is any hope living in a seemingly mundane and somewhat purposeless life.
There were 5 slots with each running up to 2 hours long. Each session ended with a yamcha session on stage with food and drinks provided. Kudos to MMUCS for organizing this event free of charge for the students of MMU. Hopefully we will see more events from them.
