It has not even been three weeks since they've won the football champion title for MMU Super Cup, Honduras has now made their name and fame bigger by winning the Kabaddi Tournament 2015 hosted by ICS MMU Melaka. For those who are unaware of this sport, Kabaddi is a 4000-year-old Indian traditional game and it is well known for its rough game plays.
The committee consisting of approximately 40 volunteers set up the stage well alongside with their excellent technical division. However, the first aid facilities for the players were insufficient. “Yes, we were facing first aid facilities problems during this event. So we will try to improve on that part,” the director quoted in this issue. Nevertheless, the committee had made this event a massive success.
The event started off at 9.30 am with 9 teams consisting 7 players per team. One game was held for 10 minutes, 5 minutes for each 1st and the 2nd half. The teams were No Hard Feelings, Silver Cross K.T, Honduras, Thunder’z, Mudinja Pureh K.T, Come On Tigers, Cemetrians, Simpang 302 and MRC. After 7 rounds on the group stage, the top four teams managed to reserve their places for the semi-finals. They were none other than Thunder’z, Honduras, MRC and also the Cemeterians.
With all 4 teams consisting of solid performers, the semi-finals were heated up with more aggressive moves. Starting with the battle between the Thunder’z and the Cemeterians on the first semi-final round, in which Cemeterians made their move to the finals. On the other side of the fixture, the Honduras beat MRC and reserved their place on the finals. Finally, on the battle between the Thunder’z and MRC, Thunder’z won the third place of the tournament. As for the well-known defending power of Honduras, they finally managed to win the title of Champions for the ICS Kabaddi Tournament 2015 while pushing the Cemeterians to the second place.
Not to forget that the organizers also awarded three players with the best raider, best defender and the best player award. The best player was Anand Kumar from Cemeterians, Danes Nair Sritharan from Honduras won the best defender award and Pavissnu Subramaniam won the best raider. It is also notable that Pavissnu is the Director of this tournament.
From the point of the audiences and supporters, most of them felt satisfied with the event as no unwanted mishaps were recorded and the committees paid a good hospitality to the audiences. The event officially ended around 6 pm.
