MMU Law Society (MULS) held their annual law night in Holiday Inn on the 23rd of April. This year’s event was titled Law Night 2016 Masquerade-A Grand Ball. It was a fun-filled night which started at 8p.m. and the party did not stop till the clock hit 12.
As the theme this year was masquerade, participants thronged the ballroom decked out in their classiest outfits sporting a variety of masks.
The purpose of MULS having a law night is so that students and lecturers from FOL can come together to mingle and have fun together with the invited VIP’s. It was also an especially important night for the final year students to celebrate having made it this far.
Among the VIP’s present at the event were representative from the Malaysian Bar, Mr. Desmond Ho and his wife, a well-known senior lawyer Mr. Ng Kong Peng and his wife, Puan Hendon, newly appointed Vice President of Academics, Prof Dr. Hishamudin Ismail, the newly appointed Dean of FOL, Dr. Guru Dhilion, senior lecturer and adviser for MULS, Mr Gary, and representative from STAD, Madam Fauzianita.
The event started with an opening ceremony which saw speeches from the various VIP’s and of course the Director of Law Night, Mr. Soon. After the speeches , attendees proceeded out to conquer the buffet table filled with various mouth watering dishes.
Good food was not the sole attraction of the event as guest were entertained by various performances put up by invited entertainers and of course the 3 finalists of Law got Talent.
The eventual winner of the competition was saxophonist Mr. Theam Chee Larp from Epsilon year who got the whole crowd including senior lecturer Mr. Tay, showing off their dancing skills.
At the final part of the evening, the final year students took the stage and proceeded to run the rest of the evening with performances and a special award ceremony for seniors.
All in all, it was a great night where everyone had fun and took lots of photos as the boys and girls from the law faculty proved that law students are much more than just face-buried-deep-into-my-super-expensive-textbooks nerds. If one needs any more proof, just take a look at what the new Dean of FOL wore to the event XD
