This past 25th & 26th April, the MMU Red Crescent Society played host to the Wellness On the Go program. Purposed to enlighten the youth of Malacca on the various bodies out there who work endlessly to preserve and maintain the health, security and general wellness of the society.
Among the organizations invited to set up awareness booths were, Pejabat Pergigian Melaka, ENT Specialists from the Malacca Hospital, Jabatan Keselamatan Melaka, Pusat Sumber Transplan Nasional, Jabatan Alam Sekitar Negeri Melaka, Reproductive Health Association Malacca, Jabatan Perhilitan, Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontijen Melaka and finally the Malacca Fire Department, BOMBA.

These organizations set up booths at our very own CLC Concourse equipped with highly informative pamphlets, experienced and knowledgeable officers as well as complimentary instant health checks. Students were able to learn about the various actions taken by Ibu Pejabat Polis Melaka in keeping this state safe. Also, anybody who wished to sign up as an organ donor could do so at the Pusat Sumber Transplan Nasional booth (as long as you were over the age of 18).
There were also the ladies from the Reproductive Health Association Malacca who not only were giving out free blood pressure and blood sugar level checks but also advice and information on how to always keep safe and be aware of one’s reproductive system.
On top of that, the MMU Red Crescent Society has allowed for a group of primary and secondary school students to be exposed to such an event. Students from around Malacca were invited to participate.
These organizations were also invited to give talks later in the day on what they do day in day out for the betterment of the society. A representative from the Pusat Sumber Transplan Nasional spoke on the need for more individuals to sign up as donors and what the process of organ donation entails.
All in all, I would say that in terms of spreading awareness on the various bodies out there that work to enrich society, MMU Red Crescent Society did an all-encompassing job. President Eshuwar Kasiveloo and Event Director Anna Manisha Rames together with their team of volunteers worked like a well-oiled machine in hosting both the group of primary school students as well as the representatives from the various bodies.
Another event as such would be highly anticipated and here’s to increasing overall awareness on the things one can do for the betterment of society.
