As we’re all settling in with this new semester, the International Student Society (ISS) have organized their very own, My International Friends 3.0 to welcome new students and also as a platform for the local and international students to bond. Although the scale was smaller than last year, committees was absolutely delighted that the crowd was way more than expected
Gathering at the Main Field at 8.30am, there were approximately 50 participants with 15 working committee. The event kick-started with a simple nourishing breakfast for everyone present. It clearly showed on everyone’s face the extreme excitement they were to start their day.
Day 1 was well spent in campus with various activities starting from simple stretching, Treasure Hunt, X-factor to Water Balloon. These activities basically took up the whole day with lunch and tea provided. From the looks of it, you very well know that these people meant business!
Moving on to the highlight of the event. Day 2 started with everyone gathering at the President Square at about 8.30am. After breakfast, we headed to the renowned Port Dickson Beach. We definitely enjoyed our time there, with the games played on the beach and also water sports like the banana boat ride! Everyone was super thrilled; especially the Japanese Exchange Students who were more than happy to get themselves tanned. While we were having so much fun, some of the committees worked real hard to get em’ hot chicks done by lunch. Barbecue, I mean. Everyone chilled and had a great time talking over lunch, enjoying the sea-side barbecue. Around 5.30pm, the prize-giving was held. The committees made sure that every participating team went home with a hamper. We left back to Melaka shortly after.
From the short interview with the event director, Muhammad Humayun, on the purpose of the event, he humbly replied:
“This event was held to open up minds and boundaries between the local and international students of the Multimedia University. We might be from different countries and backgrounds, but we are all the students of MMU, we are one. Making new friends from different countries definitely will broaden one’s mind and views and expand our thoughts, which I strongly believe will benefit the participants in the long run.”
My International Friends 3.0 was certainly an event that I’ll never regret partaking. And I heartily suggest each and every one of you to give it a go next year. I’m sure you won’t rue the day!
