As the second day,11th August 2016 of the election went on as usual, STAD and other SRC Elections Officials closed the polling session at 4.30pm. While they proceeded with the counting of the total votes, a crowd gathered at CLC Concourse anxiously waiting to witness the announcement of the new SRC President for the term 2016/2017. As the counting process went on, both Presidential candidates were having a meet and greet session with other students. The other SRC candidates who won uncontested were also there hours before the polling session ended, most of them dressed in formal wear, they were approaching students and encouraging them to cast their votes before the polling ends.
Later on, Mr Fazli announced the uncontested candidates from other territories which are; General Seat, FOB, FIST, FET, CDP and Residential Seats. One of the Presidential Candidates from Melaka, Muhammad Ammar Putra is one of the candidates who won uncontested for FET seat.
With that, the top 3 candidates whom are Lee Shou Jie, Baveniyah and Maymun with the highest votes won the elections and they are the Faculty of Law Representatives for SRC 16/17.
Without further delays, Mr Fazli went on to announce the results for the Presidential Seat. Results are as follows :-
As the results speak for itself, Mr Teo Jia Schen (Jason) is the newly elected President of Students’ Representative Council (SRC) 2016/2017.
To conclude, once again, utmost congratulations to all candidates for an amazing campaign and to the new fully established Students’ Representative Council for the term 2016/2017. May this new council under the leadership of Jason Teo continue to serve the students of MMU and represent us well as how the previous councils did if not better.
