The battle begun on Tuesday 9am for the first tournament on Dota 2. On the campus' very own Main Hall's stage, two battling teams were given the best gaming gear and they played against each other in the match. While the war was happening on stage, people were welcomed to take a seat to witness the matches. Around in the Main Hall, were also computers set up for anyone to try out mini games, and a Virtual Reality equipment that allows guest to experience a simulated game.
The commentator of the matches guided us through the gameplay while the audience watched the projected screen on the happenings of the game,
MMU's team competed in the semifinals round but lost the battle. Team 'Strawberry' has claimed as the Dota 2 champion by the end of the day, and will be continuing to the next round of a bigger battle.
The match for the League of Legends began around the same time the next day. A victorious moment at the end saw our campus' representatives, dubbed 'MMU Origins' came out on top in the finals. They will be qualified to compete in a bigger Grand Finale on October this year.
Thursday 9am saw the final battle in Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The five players in our MMU representative showed teamwork and focus in the Grand Finale of the match. It was a fair game and the team landed as first runner-up.
All matches: The top 4, semi-finals and the grand finals are streamed on Twitch and promoted through E-Games MMU's facebook page. As Malaysia's digital-innovative university and with their tech-savvy students, it comes as no surprise that this event was a success and saw MMU's very own strive in a video game battle.
