The festive Chinese New Year jingles playing EVERYWHERE. I don’t know about you, but from where I come from- shopping malls, Kedai Runcit, Mamak shops, you name it! The moment you enter any of these places you’ll hear it, “DONG DONG QIANG! DONG QIANG! Mei tiao da jie xiao xiang…” Which is also one of the reasons Malaysians are so cool. It has become a part of our identity, whether you’re Chinese or not.
“Ah girl ah, got boyfriend already or not?”- Aunty No. 1
“What boyfriend?! Cannot have boyfriend! Study first!”- Mother
“How was your exams, got A ah?”- Aunty No. 2
“Aiyo, don’t eat so much la, so fat already!” - Aunty No. 3
“Eat some more! You’re too skinny!”- Grandmother
Enough said. *shoots self*
Overeating. Home-cooked food is almost too good to be true after months of maggi goreng and other variety of instant food.
Traffic jam. But I guess this is common for all festive seasons. #ItuPerkaraBiasa
Mandarin oranges and Ang Pao. This of course, is my favorite part. I ain’t even complaining.
