“If you’re easily contented, you’ll be happy for a long time”.
There are times where we agree that being contented with what we have makes our life less complicated, however it is not that simple as we picture it. I believe it depends on how passion-driven you are and where you stand in your life. Sometimes, being content isn’t easy. Sometimes, it makes us lazy too, and we might take things for granted without noticing it. You also have to wonder whether the virtue is greater to live a life of happiness, or a life of meaning. The latter are always looking to do better, and in particular do better for others. In this, contentment doesn't come easily and complete happiness, to be sure, is always just the slightest but elusive.
Besides, if one can keep things in life simple, one can be easily content. It's when one complicates things or want complicated things that make it harder to be content. Life is too short. One minute you could be injured or sick. Another minute you can be dying. Keep it simple and don't take everything too seriously, that’s what majority say. Some people tend to misunderstand this quote. It is an essential virtue to have but it shouldn't stop someone from being ambitious too. In this case, I would like to note that a simple happy-go-lucky person is easily contented, he simply lives his life, tends to be lazy and not having much purpose in life. The wiser way to be contented is to live simply, have lower expectations while trying to achieve one's purpose in life. One is easily contented and happy through doing nothing much, yet another, through achievements. Both are happy. One is foolish and the other wise.
